Fitbit Alta Unboxing, Setup and Review

By Gavin | March 05, 2019

I have the brand new Fitbit Alta and this is a Fitbit's newest lineup for March 2016, this is the large size on the side, here we have a gage. You just put your risk up to it and tells you if you need a smaller meet or large, only two sizes are available.

This one's got a notification, so you can see who's calling you, I'll give you a vibrate automatically tracks your sleep, obviously your movement things like that. This is supposedly supposed to track your exercise to automatically, so you don't have to log it and put it into the app, so let's get started with just unboxing it.

Now I have tried multiple Fitbits in the past, this is a water-resistant Fitbit, so that means I'm old, some small splashes and stuff will not harm it, but it is not waterproof. You don't need to submerge it fully in the water, especially like it when you're washing your hands.

First, we have a set-up guide very nice packaging here, and then we also have the USB charger, this is to sync it your Fitbit with your computer. We've seen this in the previous generations and this is your charger, so it plugs into a USB port or USB block, and this is interesting, I guess you clip it on to the band, and also I've tried the Apple watch in the past, I've had that for a while too.

Further, in the future, I will have a review, a full in-depth review of the Fitbit Alta, so it's got this very shiny face on it, it looks great, it's got, interchangeable bands. I think Fitbit also offers a leather band, and maybe even a cloth one.

To charge it, you clip it onto here and then you plug it into your USB port, this is how the band's work. You push this release here, and then you slide it off and that's the Alta, and then you can replace these bands with maybe even third parties later in the future.

That's what it looks like on your wrist, let's get started with the guide and see how we set this up. They just want us to go to their website to set it up, I'm just going to go ahead and try to turn it on, and then sync it with my phone. This is interesting, there are no buttons on here, and the first thing we do is plug it in, and it brings up, it tells us just to go to Fitbit.com/setup, so we'll try that out.

When you go to fitbit.com/setup, it basically tells us to download the app from the app store, this is not my first time with a Fitbit. Basically, you create account login, and here I'm going to go to my account, set up a device, and we can choose from a list.

This is the Alta, basically, it's going to tell us to power it up, now it's telling us to display our tracker's number, it's going to connect, and we've got to update it. Now it says our Alta update is complete, and it looks like we're ready to go with the Alta, and then we can go ahead and track everything.

The first thing it tells us is our battery is charged, so the way we wake up Alta is just giving it a little tap, then it brings up our day. Tap it again to get the steps, and again to scroll through your menu options, so full review coming up soon.

This is the Alta, it's nice because it's sleek, and it's really lightweight, it's like the class here and the stainless steel design, full update coming soon. Again I have used the Apple watch and a couple other Fitbit's in the past, so I'll let you know how the Alta compares to most of those later.
